Anatoly Karpov
withdrew from the event.
The reason is the refusal of
Teimour Radjabov
to postpone their game
of the 1st round. Karpov proposed to postpone the game since
he had been deprived to sleep due to the late arrival
of his plane from Brasil. After the refusal to postpone the game
and the losing by forfeit in the
1st round Karpov did not appear for the 2nd game
versus Judith Polgar and according to the rules
he was disqualified from the event.
